Polystichum californicum - California Shield Fern

Description

This fern is similar to the the Western Sword but has smaller, more delicate fronds. It requires shade and regular water with well drained soil. It is a native to damp canyons from Santa Cruz to Mendicino County, and is usually found growing under Redwoods.
