Pteris argyraea - Silver Brake Fern

Description

Native to India, this is one of the most popular brakes in cultivation. Grows 24"-60" tall. The striking silver variegated fronds attract immediate attention. Plants can be grown in the ground as well as in pots. Semi-shade is best. Likes plenty of water during the growth period. Do not over water in winter. The common name "brake" is a diminutive of the bracken and arises because it resembles some species of that fern. In a pot, keep its soil MOIST.
