Description
One of our favorites- this wonderful mounding Manzanita is somewhere between a groundcover and a small shrub at 3' high and 8' wide. A volunteer seedling introduced by the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, it is likely a hybrid involving Arctostaphylos pajaroensis, a species native to Monterey County. 'John Dourley' has stunning fiery bronze new growth, blue-grey foliage, and gorgeous little pink flower clusters which eventually develop into blushing red berries. Truly beautiful at every time of year! Provide it with a sunny location and supplemental water for its first year in the ground. Once established, no summer water is required. Loved by hummingbirds and ignored by deer!
