Cercocarpus ledifolius - Mountain Mahogany

Description

This extremely tough shrub is native throughout the mountains of the West. It can eventually reach 20' in height and about 10' in width. It has dark red-brown furrowed bark, and small deep green leaves. Its feathery seeds are beautiful when lit by afternoon or morning sun and add a bit of magic to the garden in summer. Give it full sun and occasional water until it is established.
