Pinus jeffreyi - Jeffrey Pine

Description

This pine species is found in predominantly high altitudes (above 5000') of the northern Coast Ranges and Sierra Nevadas. It is found in lower elevations such as Baja only on highly serpentinized soils. Grows from 60' to 180'. The long blue-green branches remain dense. Red-brown bark has a characteristic vanilla or pineapple scent. Tree does best in high elevations with sun and well drained soil. Drought resistant.
