Description

Until the 1970's all redwoods at nurserys were propagated by seed. Each seedling inheriting a slightly different set of charateristics. Since then named cultivars have been available, these have certain definite growth and color characteristics and are propagated vegetatively. Sequoia sempervirens 'Soquel' has a fine texture, bluish-green foliage, little suckering and branches grow horozontally or slightly downward , then arch upwards. Sequoias are native from Oregon south to Monterey Co. in CA, occuring never far from the sea and its attendant summer fog.
