Description:
Native to grasslands throughout the state, Checker Bloom makes a beautiful addition to a meadow garden or perennial border. Although quite drought tolerant (it will go dormant without summer water), blooming time will be extended with supplemental water. Flowers will usually begin to appear in mid-spring and continue from early to late summer, depending upon the amount of water provided. Forming a low dense mat similar in habit to the straight species, this cultivar of Checker Bloom has particularly deep rose-pink flowers.
