Description:
Fernald's Iris has a graceful habit, with slender blue-green leaves and lovely cream colored blossoms with light veining. Native to dry woods in the Bay Area, it is commonly seen growing in the shade of oaks along Skyline and the eastern slopes of the Peninsula. If you are gardening under oaks, we recommend this species both for its beauty and because it is probably the species that grew there originally. Light shade and little or no water once established.
