Description
Native to dry areas of the northern Sierras, the Desert Mallow is a beautiful, extremely tough native shrub to about 4 feet tall and wide. Lovely cupped pinkish orange flowers grace the plant in spring and early summer, and it will often rebloom if cut back after flowers fade. Desert Mallow needs full sun, good drainage, and little or no summer water to be happy in the Bay Area. As its name suggests, it does better in warmer inland areas like Palo Alto or the East Bay than coastal gardens.
