Description

Cane Bluestem grows to about 4' tall , is clump forming and coarsely bladed. There is a purplish red blush to the new foliage. This grass is dormant in cold weather but will grow year round in mild climes with some watering. Fan-like flowers starting from February to May. Extremely drought tolerant. Looks good in drifts. Exellent for erosion control in dry climates. If you are looking for a substitute for Purple fountain grass, the ubiquitous purple landscape grass which is proving to be invasive in parts of the Bay Area, this is your plant.
