Salvia mellifera 'Point Mugu' - Black Sage

Description

Black sage grows throughout the coast ranges on hot dry slopes. Given full sun and occasional water it makes a tidy, mid-sized evergreen shrub.This selection is said to be more compact than the typical form. Its flowers are extremely pale lilac, and not very large. It is however our one local shrubby Sage. It is a favorite of bees, who make some of the sweetest, clearest honey to be found anywhere, from its blossoms.
