Boykinia major - Brook Foam

Description

Perennial for filtered shade. Showy clusters of small white flowers. Lush looking with big green leaves. A choice plant for the woodland garden. Needs some water, and goes dormant in winter. This plant is in the saxifrage family, related to coral bells and fringe cups. The leaves have a clean woodsy scent. It grows from a rhizome which forms bulblets and is usually found along permanent streams. It would be happy near a pond edge.
