One of California's rarest (and loveliest) natives, this shrub is found in the wild only in the hills east of Fresno. The fragrant white flowers bloom profusely in May and June, and have yellow stamens in the center. While it is evergreen, its usually attractive glossy foliage goes through a yellow period in summer. Cut back hard after flowering for a fuller looking plant.
