This herbaceous perennial is found throughout California growing along woodland margins, grasslands, and in disturbed soils. It can be seen growing along the road near Saratoga Summit and in Santa Cruz and Aptos. Yellow wands of flowers bloom from July to November, offering nectar to a wide range of beneficial insects.
