Succulents Garden Guides | Garden Design ServiceSucculents at Yerba Buena Nursery Yerba Buena has its best selection of native succulents ever! Included in our selection are the popular tiny-leaved groundcover Sedum 'Cape Blanco', and a wide selection of Dudleya species, ranging from a pink-tinged gray to a bright green. Mature sizes vary from a few inches to over a foot!
Sedums and Dudleyas are easy to grow as long as a few conditions are met. While they will take full sun on the coast, they look their best in warmer areas with morning sun and afternoon shade, or filtered light all day. Planted in the ground, they are best placed on a mound, perhaps situated between several rocks, as they are often found in nature. More commonly they are planted as sculptural container specimens with year round good looks. While they will survive with no summer water, a light drink every week or two will keep them looking their best. Be sure to plant them at a slight angle so rainwater can drain from the center of the plant. Whether planted among rocks or in the ground, this is our recommended soil mix for native succulents, developed over much trial and error: Succulents have been selling well as soon as we put them out for sale, so visit soon for the best selection!
