Description:
This evergreen, hard-leaved large shrub or small tree is native to chaparral or arid foothills, usually on serpentine soils. It grows from 3 to 9' tall and spreading. Prefers lean, well-drained soil in sunny locations and will not tolerate summer water. It has interesting gnarled branches, which could provide a bonsai effect in the smaller garden.
