Weed Removal Video Game Debuts on Yerba Buena's Website!

"How Bunny Saved California" is an original video game which teaches the importance of removing invasive plants that plague California. Bunny, the game's heroine, makes a valiant effort to pull, dig and wrench out some nasty weeds before they spread and crowd out the native plants. The game can be played online for FREE on our website. The game was designed by Martin Jennings-Teats and sponsored by Yerba Buena Nursery. Let us know how you like it!

The EXTRACTIGATOR
Comes to Yerba Buena Nursery!

This plant pulling tool will sweep out invasive plants such as broom and thistles with ease! Our research has shown that this is the superior tool for yanking weeds out by the roots using leverage instead of strength!

Now available for sale at Yerba Buena Nursery, this would make the ultimate Christmas gift.

The Extractigator wrenches out plants up to two inches in diameter. For more information on the Extractigator and examples of the product in use, visit their website here.

Yerba Buena Nursery's
Favorite Native Plant Pairings

Our propagation manager, Matt, has compiled a collection of our favorite plant pairings to keep your native garden looking beautiful year round! There are so many plants, in fact, that we've chosen to display the collection on their own unique page.

View the article here.

Mimulus Madness!

There is no more colorful native perennial than Mimulus (Monkeyflower) to embellish your summer garden. Plant several shrubs side-by-side in a sunny border for months of show-stopping blooms. Our Hybrid Mimulus range from pink, red and purple to yellow, orange and white.

Their mature size will be 2'x2' to 3'x3'. Trim back finished blooms to encourage another flush of blossoms in late summer. You will not find such a variety at any other nursery. No two plants are alike so come make your selection when they are blooming, which is NOW! All 1 gallon plants are $12.

Pruning and Deadheading Secrets
Deadheading most plants is quite simple, and can take less than a minute per plant! With your pair of clippers in hand, look on the flowering stalk of the plant for the lowest shriveled flower. Clip the stalk back at the set of leaves below this point. Many plants are flexible enough for you to grab several stalks and clip them at the same time.

See the article "Basic Pruning & Deadheading Techniques For Common California Native Plants" for additional information on deadheading your garden.
